JOB TITLE: OVC ADVISOR/SPECIALIST
REPORTS TO: OVC PROJECT MANAGER
POSITION LOCATION: KABWOHE BUSHENYI
JOB SUMMARY
The OVC Advisor/specialist under the supervision of the Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the technical implementation of the OVC Project in Bushenyi and Mbarara districts. In addition to the OVC Advisory role, the OVC Advisor/specialist will have a big role in the development of strategies, work plans, and assessments, monitoring and evaluation. The OVC Advisor will ensure coordination of timely and effective programmatic support.
The OVC Advisor/Specialist will supervise Social Work Supervisors (SWS)
Key responsibilities
* Assist ICOBI to ensure strategic and technical direction of its OVC interventions by remaining updated wiih state-of-the art strategies, interventions and sharing that information on a frequent basis.
* Providing technical support, guidance and Leadership and work closely with OVC project staff to plan and implement the program
*Work with Project Manager to provide guidance on the annual work plans.
*Work with Social Work Supervisors to ensure quality standards in service delivery are adhered to.
*Provide technical guidance and assistance to ICOBI sub-grantees in improving the delivery , utilization and quality
of OVC services
*Assist the organization in identifying, documenting,disseminating and scaling up recognized good practices in OVC care and support, Learning and responsibilities on the child.
*All other duties and responsibilities related to the position,
Job specifications:
1. The qualified candidate will have a Master's Degree in Social work, Development studies, Social Sector Planning, Community Development or a related field, or equivalent training and experience.
2. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Social Administration
Experience
* At least three years of professional experience working in OVC programs preferably in an NGO setting.
* Experience working with PEPFAR supported programs, reporting and provision of technical assistance to sub grantees;
* Excellent understanding of both global and Africa-specific trends in OVC programs.
*Specific hands-on knowledge and skills in designing, planning,implementing and monitoring OVC service delivery;
* Strong skills in teamwork, networking , facilitation, strategic thinking, verbal communication and writing;
