Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act (Cap 110), the Laws of Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 1999 and started operation on 1st April 2001. UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation facilities and to promote Research and Development in the Electricity generation sector while running the company on sound business principals. The Vision of the Company is to “Be the Leading power producer in the Great Lakes Region”, while the Mission is to “Sustainably generate Reliable, Quality and Affordable Electricity for Socio- Economic Development”.

UEGCL seeks to fill the following vacant position

JOB TITLE: RISK MANAGER WORK CENTER: HEAD OFFICE SUPERVISOR/MANAGER TITLE: CHIEF INTERNAL AUDIT, RISK & COMPLIANCE OFFICER DEPARTMENT: INTERNAL AUDIT, RISK & COMPLIANCE Job Summary: Description of the purpose of the job To effectively and efficiently coordinate the development and implementation of UEGCL’s Risk Management Strategy and comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management initiatives and programs across the Company. Accountable for the identification, measurement, monitoring and control of risks and to coordinate development and update of risk strategy, policy, processes, controls and tools. Key responsibilities: Brief description of duties or the responsibilities for the job 1. Coordinate the development and implementation of the risk management policy and strategy towards fullfilment of the Company’s mission and strategic goals. 2. Develop and implement risk management programs, systems and procedures for the identification, assessment and management of potential risks in liaison with the key risk owners/process owners in compliance with applicable risk management standards. 3. Ensure that all possible risks (policy, strategy, compliance,operational e.t.c.) are identified, analyzed, assessed in a timely manner and appropriate risk responses formulated and implemented. 4. Develop and implement an effective and cost efficient risk monitoring, evaluation and reporting framework and report to Management and the appropriate Board Committee (through the appropriate function head) on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as appropriate 5. Ensure that management and staff are continously trained and sensitized on risk management and their respective roles and responsibilities in risk management. 6. Stay abreast with, monitor and report new trends and developments in risk management to improve risk programs and keep management appraised of the developments and their effects. 7. Effectively coordinate the implementation of the risk mitigation actions by the respective risk owers/business units. 8. Any other assignments by management. Contacts/Liaise with the following offices: Internally  All Chiefs & Company Secretary  Corporate Affairs Manager  ICT Manager  Head Business Performance  Head Procurement and Disposal Unit Externally  Board of Directors  Government Agencies  Contractors and consultants  Regulator  Concessioner Education and Professional Requirements: The minimum education level required to perform this job.  A Bachelor‘s degree in Engineering, Business Management ,Economics, or related Rev No: 00 Issue Date: Nov 2016 ID No: UEGCL/HR/GR/44 discipline.  Possession of an MBA or other post graduate qualification with a bias towards strategic planning, risk management, or project management is an added advantage.  Membership of a relevant professional body such as ACCA, UIPE/ERB, PRM.

Related/Preferred Job Experience: The Experience required to perform this job.  At least 7 years relevant working experience of which at least 5 has been at a senior level.  Strong professional skills and demonstrated experience in Risk Management and working with Risk Management Systems and tools. Experience in infrastructure/plant operations management and knowledge of the electricity sub-sector will be an added advantage.
