Job Description
Sub Region Gender Scoping Mission for Gender Action Research Planning

Palladium Group is implementing NU-TEC MD (a five- year DFID funded programme) that aims to increase the incomes and climate resilience of poor men and women in Northern Uganda (NU) by stimulating sustainable, pro-poor growth in selected agricultural markets and improving the position of poor men and women within these market systems, to make them more inclusive for poor people.

Palladium will be conducting a gender-scoping mission in Lango sub-region. This scoping mission will update NUTEC MD understanding of gender and social inclusion relations for women, including disabled women, female youth and very poor women, within the commodity markets of soya and sunflower and the interconnected markets of land preparation, storage and seed. Other commodity markets that include large numbers of women will also be identified and assessed.

Palladium Group is recruiting individual consultants to participate in the following scoping mission.

1.    The primary objective for this field scoping mission is to capture the circumstances that affect access to resources, power and agency for women including; female youth, disabled women and very poor women in order to support an understanding of empowerment issues within the local context and the target market systems.

2.    The second objective is to obtain field data to support the design and setting up of an action research intervention to answer questions on women’s access and agency and provide evidence on whether women’s economic participation through access to resources such as training, finance and markets leads to women’s economic empowerment.
