Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act (Cap 110), the Laws of Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 1999 and started operation on 1st April 2001. UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation facilities and to promote Research and Development in the Electricity generation sector while running the company on sound business principals. The Vision of the Company is to “Be the Leading power producer in the Great Lakes Region”, while the Mission is to “Sustainably generate Reliable, Quality and Affordable Electricity for Socio- Economic Development”.

UEGCL seeks to fill the following vacant position


Job Summary: Description of the purpose of the job To Provide Independent assurance that UEGCL’s risk management, control and governance processes are operating effectively to support the achievement of Company goals. Key responsibilities: Brief description of duties or the responsibilities for the job 1. Prepare and effectively implement audit plans and programs in support of company goals. 2. Critical review of the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and recommending necessary improvements. 3. Carry out special audit investigations in the Company as assigned. 4. Coordinate the audit of value for money for projects and assignments undertaken by the Company. 5. Provide support to to the Chief Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Officer in the preparation and realisation of the audit plans and preparation/presentation of audit reports. 6. Oversee the audit of accountability of Company funds. 7. Develop and implement an appropriate compliance monitoring framework to ensure compliance with internal policies, laws and regulations by the Business Units to enable them acheive compliance in their processes. 8. Identify compliance gaps and ensure timely and effective communication to the relevant business process owners. 9. Institute an appropriate reporting mechanism and follow up of corrective actions to be taken to ensure their effective execution. 10. Any other assignments by the Audit Committee of the Board. The minimum education level required to perform this job.  A Bachelor’s degree [Hons] in a relevant field such as Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Business Administration.  ACCA, CIA, CPA, or other Internationally recognized professional accounting qualification.  A Master’s degree in a relevant field.  Full professional membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors Rev No: 00 Issue Date: Nov 2016 ID No: UEGCL/HR/GR/44 Related Job Experience: The Experience required to perform this job.

Related/Preferred Job Experience: The Experience required to perform this job.  Knowledge of the operations and understanding of practices within the industry  At least 7 years relevant internal audit working experience of which at least 5 has been at a senior level. Additional Skills/Competences: In addition to the experience and educational requirements listed above  Good interpersonal skills and high level of integrity  Self drive and resilience  Strong analytical and problem solving skills  Strong attention to detail and highly organized  Professionalism  Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills  Demonstrated ability to work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals  Computer & IT competencies
