The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is one of the three successor companies of the Uganda Electricity Board (UEB). Their mandate is ownership of the electricity distribution assets in Uganda. UEDCL is seeking to hire qualified persons to fill the following positions:

Job Position: TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Reports to: Territory Manager

Supervises: Linesmen

Duty station: Nakapiripirit, Katakwi or Moroto

No. of position: 2

Purpose of position:

To ensure availability of power in conformity with agreed specifications and standards and minimize damages to equipment, surrounding and ensuring safety to personnel

and customers.

Duties of Technical Assistant:

1. Supervise and carry out construction and maintenance of overhead lines, switch gears, transformers and underground cable in accordance with the agreed standards.
2. Carry out commercial survey for new connection and effect new connections and meter installations in accordance with the agreed specifications and standards.
3. Assist in carrying out disconnection and reconnection as may be requested from time to time.
4. Maintain daily records, organize line clearance and handle assigned system emergencies.
5. Devise quick means to identifying causes of power failures.
6. Apply safety measures on all assignments when carrying out any duties.
7. Produce and submit reports on faults, new connections and others etc.
8. Carry-out any other duties assigned by the station manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-     A Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized academic institution

-     Experience of not less than 2 years in a reputable public or private organization while working as an electrical technician

-     Proven track record of integrity and work ethics, committed team player who is result oriented

-     Knowledge of mechanical engineering will be an added advantage.

-     Having a valid driving permit Classes A and B is an added advantage

-     IT Knowledge is an added advantage
