Program Coordinator (East Central Uganda)

Purpose:

To manage the program operations of mothers2mothers (m2m) as a sub-partner to JSI under the STAR-EC project (strengthening TB and HIV&AIDS Responses in East Central Uganda). The position is based in the JSI project office in Jinja, Uganda and has an organisational reporting line to the m2m Program Support Manager in South Africa and project reporting line to the STAR- EC Chief of Party in Uganda. Key Performance Areas:

  • Work in collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders to develop m2m’s Mentor mother program plan under STAR-EC
  • Implement and manage program operations, including participation in the ongoing design and direction of the program
  • Facilitate the recruitment, orientation and ongoing management of additional STAR-EC staff working on m2m activities
  • Provide and/ or oversee the provision of routine site support to ensure-effective program implementation
  • Represent m2m at national and regional level to ensure smooth and effective program implementation
  • Assist with related program activities (e.g. training, M&E) as necessary to support program functioning
  • Coordinate ongoing quality assessments of m2m program activities and direct program changes where appropriate
  • Ensure routine collection, reporting and analysis of program data to guide program implementation
  • Promote the benefits of integrating the m2m program within existing PMTCT services
  • Develop work plans, budgets and program reports as required
  • Provide cross-cutting programmatic a-id strategic support to other m2m country programs within the east Africa regions requested by the Program Support Manager
  • Communicate and work closely with m2m Head Office in Cape Town and the JSI STAR-EC office in Jinja.
Requirement:

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Public Health, Nursing, Social Science or Management
  • Master’s Degree an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years experience in community/public health work
  • Significant program management experience at the district or regional level
  • Experience in training, monitoring & evaluation and financial management
  • Good working knowledge of the relevant PMTCT protocols and policies in Uganda

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and team building skill
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and engage with MOH and other stakeholder
  • Proven management and leadership skills
  • Dynamism, independence and creativity
  • Computer literacy (MS Office suite)
  • Fluency in English required
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the region to support program implementation and management
  • Enthusiasm to work on behalf of m2m’s mother and infant clients

Preference will be given to Ugandan nationals. Competitive salary packages will be negotiable in accordance with m2m and JSI’s remuneration policies.
