The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Uganda Limited, an organization contributing to a process of restoring hope and improving the quality of life of persons and communities affected by HIV/AIDS, together with the Irish Aid, are to implement a decentralised capacity building project of 50 HIV/ AIDS selected Civil Society Organisations in the Karamoja Region. TASO therefore seeks to recruit competent persons to fill the vacancies below:

Job Title: Driver

Reports to: Accountant.

Project Location: Moroto / Karamoja region.

Main Purpose of the Job:

•   To drive Project vehicles as required and monitor their condition

Key Outputs:

•   Vehicles carefully and safely driven

•   Condition of vehicles reported

•   Records of vehicle movement and maintenance well kept

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

•   Drive Project motor vehicles as instructed

•   Ensure maximum security of vehicle and its accessories when under his/her charge

•   Ensure safety of passengers and cargo under his charge

•   Monitor condition of vehicle and promptly report the condition to supervisor

•   Maintain a record of movements for the vehicle(s) assigned to him/ her

•    Maintain vehicle cleanliness.

•    Ensure that vehicle insurance and other periodic obligations are up to date

•   Report any accident incidents the vehicle gets involved in to the supervisor and to the Police as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS – Driver Academic Qualifications

•   Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education

•    Possession of a Driving Permit for classes B,CM and DL

Additional Training

•    Training in defensive driving Basic knowledge of Motor Vehicle Mechanics

Minimum Experience and Exposure: 3 years as a driver.

Special Knowledge

•   Ability to communicate in Karamojong dialects is a must.

•   Basic technical knowledge of motor vehicle operations.

•   Road signs;

•   Traffic laws and rules;

Key Skills:

•   Vehicle control and manoeuvre.

•   Defensive driving;

•    Interpersonal relations Other Qualities/Attributes

•   Courtesy;

•   Hygienic;

•   Patience.
